Birth Sessions!

As a mother of 3 kids myself, I am well aware of how exciting and scary giving birth can be. I personally had 3 C sections. While it of course was not my first choice as I laid there failing to progress, but everyone has their own story and that is mine. (a very shortened version anyway ;)  ) Every birth is different but I bet we all look back and think, wow...I really don't remember much! Obviously we recall the first time we see our beautiful knew baby but what about the other stuff?

A birth session is just that....a session to capture you giving birth! I know, it sounds icky :p but honestly, it can be very creative and beautiful. Its not all the gross part about it, its focused on you and the anticipation of your new arrival.

Here is a link to give you a better idea.  http://www.dfwbirthphotographer.com/home/

Since I am unfortunately unable to be on-call like this session would need, not everyone will be able to experience this. I will take names and EDDs of anyone interested and I am willing to meet or speak with you and your Dr or midwife if they wish. Since I am a Pediatric Nurse, this is nothing new to me as I saw several deliveries while in nursing school :) I may cry with you but no worries here on fainting!

The Gillespie~Wedding~Louisville

Before this couple contacted me for their wedding, I'm embarrassed to say I had never even heard of this venue. And I've lived here my whole life! Apparently it was the old Lincoln Bank and can be found on W. Market St in downtown Louisville. The place is beautiful! http://www.thegillespie.com/. I knew this was going to be one of my favorite weddings of the year. And it was! Kevonna and Travis were some of the nicest people I had met and they instantly made me feel comfortable. Which is good considering shooting weddings make me a nervous wreck, lol. I love doing them but man oh man the stress!

In Loving Memory Of.....

When I started this adventure, I was excited about the opportunity to meet all these amazing families and get to laugh at all the toddlers as they play and pinch the cheeks of sweet roly poly infants and most of all, play with the piggies of all the newborns. What I didn't expect though, was how much these families would turn into friends. Especially when they buy a newborn package and I then get the honor of watching those precious newborns grow through out the year and into those cute stumbling toddlers!

Today though, I got a phone call that I never imagined I would ever get....one of my newborns that I've been watching grow over the past year passed away today. I don't know the details but I do know I cried for her. As  the mother of 3 children and one only being 16 months old herself, my heart ached for her. The mother of another client called me this evening to let me know the news. Since I'm doing her daughter's wedding this year, I naturally assumed she was calling for that. I was devastated when I learned otherwise.

This was her first and only child and she loved that boy with every bone in her body. I can't begin to express how sad I am for her and her family. Always hug your children and never take them for granted.

New Rates and Services

With the new year also comes new props, backdrops, equipment, etc. Please keep in mind all of these changes took a lot of thought and are to better help me serve you and to help me keep my sanity.

While 99% of my clients (aka families) are amazing, you always run into people who are just never satisfied or don't really take into consideration the time and talent that goes into producing wonderful memories you plan to put in print. A photographer is not some who points and shoots. They visualize the image before the camera even comes up to their face. I've have literally laid in bed the night before a session thinking to myself "what can I do with or for this client to make their family pictures unlike anything they've ever seen before". I don't show up to the shoot with absolutely nothing in mind as to what to do. It's all premeditated....for the most part. Its always an IDEA, never what actually happens. You will never get a 3 y/o to do exactly what you ask of them, lol. You improvise with your idea and go with it, all the while using your surroundings and the energy of the child to tell a story. Capture the moment!

"You don't take a photograph.......you make it"  ~ Ansel Adams

New rates can be found on the website at http://audreyandersonphotography.com/ under the SERVICES tab or here on the FB business page   http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=146281872085265 .
If your session is booked Mon-Fri, it is the price as before ($75......$60 if booked 30 days in advance)
Weekends however are now ( $100.....$80 if booked 30 days in advance)

What will you get with your session? All images will be uploaded to a private gallery. (There is still no limit on images so the exact amount of how many there will be is undetermined.) From this gallery, you will then choose 10 of your favorite images and you will receive a CD with those 10 and full printing rights. Each additional image is $5 or you may purchase the entire collection for $25.

Why this change from receiving 20+ edited images? Believe it or not, I have people receive 20 images and complained about 1 single one for one reason or another. This way, you can pick the ones you want and know those were the ones that best suited what you were looking for with your session. Believe it or not, even receiving 1 fully edited image and printing rights is few and far between. Most photographers won't even give you this option and if they do sell you the images, you can sometimes pay upwards to $300 for them.

How many wardrobe changes? You will now get up to 3 wardrobe changes. This is because after 2, kids are over it! I don't want your little bundle of joy to be upset for any reason and why waste precious time of changing into the 5th outfit when we could be having fun and getting great shots!

Do I get any prints? Yes, you will get (2) 8x10 prints and they most be picked from the 10 CD images. They do not have to be the same image.

How much time do I get for the session? You get approx 60 mins. This does not mean you ONLY get 60 mins....some kids love having their pictures taken and the session can be done and over in the 60 min time frame. Some kids do NOT like having their pictures taken. For these sessions I do allow for an additional 30 mins but it is at my discretion. Please keep in mind I may have another appt or my own family to spend time with as well.

What about mini sessions? I will still offer seasonal mini sessions. Usually only 1 but don't be surprised if another pops up at the end of the season to get those that either can't afford the higher fee or just wasn't able to get in for a full session. These sessions are a first come, first serve basis and are prepaid in advance. No refunds. This is because I book back to back for these sessions and if you miss your appt, I obviously can't re-book it, nor will I have time to do anything else but sit there and wait for the next person. These sessions also have a new rate and are now $35 and come with no wardrobe changes, 5 images (others can be purchased for an additional $5 each or $25 for the entire collection) and will now last 20mins. This session does not come with prints.

Happy 2011! What's going to happen in the new year?????

I started my venture in photography as my resolution for 2010.....this year, I'm sticking with the same theme and will be breaking out of my comfort zone and learning new and exciting things about the photography world. I'm always looking for inspiration (not impersonation!) and trying to learn more about how to make your images look the best they can. I recently started playing around with a new editing program and I am totally in love with it! I realize my taste and style is not the same as everyone else's so don't worry, if you like old style better (and sometimes it DOES look better) don't be afraid to ask for the Picasa style ( as this was the old program I used. And will still probably resort back to if need be) I've posted a few Before and Afters so you can get a feel of what's to come. The left will be the Picasa version and the right is the new Lightroom version. I've already had a ton of opinions on the Facebook page and it is split down the middle on which 'you' like better.
